Mammoth Networks Announces Free IP with Private-Line
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 22, 2008
Mammoth Networks upped the telecom ante this week, announcing free IP with purchase of their private-line service. In the midst of a flurry of discounted Internet Bandwidth announcements by other telecom vendors, Mammoth has decided to include the IP component with data circuits terminating in its Denver, Colorado or Seattle, Washington facilities.
Mammoth’s decision to include the Internet port was made after the small carrier analyzed its costs of operating the network compared to the costs of peering at locations such as Denver and Seattle. The decision sends a message to the telecom market that continues to price out Internet bandwidth in a menu-driven configuration.
“We’ve made this decision based on the cost of IP,” states Brian Worthen, President and CEO of Mammoth. “When an Internet port is such a trivial item there is no need to add another line on a quote to our wholesale partners.”
Worthen explains that Internet Bandwidth is typically sold on a port-basis, allowing Internet providers to provision Internet ports in carrier-neutral facilities or choose to provision over a private-line service. Internet bandwidth is typically transported to a Tier I IP carrier such as AT&T, Level3, NTT, Qwest, Sprint and Verizon. Because a number of peering points exist in both locations announced by Mammoth, the company is simply leveraging its existing peers and dropping IP off its quote sheet.
The company announced free IP with private-line purchase as a promotion through February 28th, 2009. The free IP promotion is available on DS3 and OC3 circuits homed to two of the company’s network cores. Mammoth plans to continue with the service following the promotion on certain private-line data circuits, based on popularity of the product. Mammoth provides these services on a wholesale basis.
Mammoth Networks is an aggregator of data services, serving fourteen Western states with their layer 2 DSL network and the contiguous lower 48 states with their private-line services. Mammoth enables Service Providers by erasing the invisible lines of the telecommunications structure, and leveling the playing field for Internet Service Providers. The privately-held company is based in Gillette, Wyoming.
